Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about our mustard oil, orders, delivery and payments.

About the oil

What is kachi ghani mustard oil?

It is mustard oil from the first, slow pressing of mustard seeds at low temperature, without chemicals. It keeps the natural aroma, colour and pungency of the seed. Read more.

Is The Magadh mustard oil mixed with any other oil?

No. It is 100% mustard oil pressed at our own mill — no palm, soybean or any other oil, and no added colour or flavour.

Why does it smell so strong?

The sharp smell and slight sting (jhaanj) come naturally from mustard seed. A strong smell is a sign of real kachi ghani oil; refined or blended oils smell much milder.

Is cold pressed the same as kachi ghani?

Yes — kachi ghani is the traditional Indian name for cold pressed mustard oil. See the difference from refined oil.

How should I store it and how long does it last?

Keep it closed, away from sunlight and heat. The best-before date is printed on every pack; once opened, use it within a few months for the best taste.

Can I use it for deep frying and pickles?

Yes. Mustard oil has a naturally high smoke point, which suits Indian frying and tadka, and it is the traditional oil for achaar.
